She married William Wayne Berry in 1947 in Throckmorton, Texas. They moved to Austin in 1954 and raised their family.
Daphne loved Jesus and was a faithful, active church member. As a young wife and mother she was active in teaching Vacation Bible School and children’s Sunday school. Her heart was always drawn to children and loved them very much. She continued to be involved with VBS into her 70’s. When she had her own grandchildren she focused on them and treated them often to overnight sleepovers, even bringing friends with them as they grew older. This tradition continued well into her 80’s with her youngest granddaughter, Josephine. She also made each grandchild a quilt specifically for them!
Art and painting were a lifelong passion and she was privileged to take art lessons in the 1960’s from G. Harvey. She also enjoyed flower arranging, ceramics and sewing. Her artistic talent was evident in all of her endeavors.
It was evident by the way she lived her life that she loved Jesus with all of her heart and prayed often that all of her family, friends and acquaintances would know Him.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years William Wayne Berry in 2000, and a son William Berry who died soon after birth around 1960. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Lynn Lancaster(Husband Jim Lancaster) and son Russell Wayne Berry(wife Ana Berry); and four granddaughters, Laura Justiss (Joseph Justiss), Jana Lee (Andrew Lee), Jill Watson (AJ Watson), Josephine Daphne Berry; as well as 5 great grandchildren, Reagan Justiss, Piper Justiss, Charlotte Lee, Oliver Lee, Margot Watson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
