A graduate of Crockett High School in Austin, Texas.
She spent a dedicated 35 years and retired from the corporate world of State Farm Insurance.
She loved going on day trips around town with friends, but nothing was more enjoyable than taking her grandchildren on drives and telling them about her life in and around Austin.
Esmer was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was married, attended regularly, baptized and confirmed all three of her children.
She survived breast cancer and battled fibromyalgia and lupus. In the face of hardship, her courage and tenacity were evident..
She is preceded in death by mother and father Manuel and Eva Cano and brother David Cano.
Esmer’s legacy lives on through her beloved family: her companion Anthony Ferrel, daughters Sandra Aguilera and partner Lorraine Diaz, and Crystal Nicole Aguilera; Son Joe Albert Aguilera and fiance Barbra Boeta; her most beloved were all her grandchildren. Granddaughters Victoria Ashley and Carmen Alvarado, Gabriella Christina Sisbarro, and Leah Nicole Montoya; grandsons Joseph Albert Rodriguez-Aguilera, Jonathan Xavier Aguilera, John Anthony Montoya Jr. and Mateo Diaz-Aguilera; brothers Carlos Acuna and wife Gloria, Daniel Cano and wife Elsa, Noe Cano, Jose Angel Cano and wife Lavinia, Roy Cano and wife Alice; sisters Yolanda (Yogi) Strait and husband Robert and Gracie Cano
Esmer was a light to so many, a dear friend and confidant, beloved sister, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A visitation for Esmeralda will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 300 E Monroe St, Austin, TX 78704. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
