Elizabeth Ann Murfee, born August 23, 1976, a bright, shining star to parents George and Patty Murfee, sister and brother-in-law Kathryn and David Gibson, her beloved niece Megan Elizabeth and dogs Chloe and Quincy, died July 29, 2009. Elizabeth is remembered and honored by her entire family: Grandparents, Ann and R. Lee Rode; Aunt and Uncle, Carol and Jake Moore; Aunt, Myrna Allred; cousins, Cindy Champlin and family, Jeff Moore and family, Donna Smith and family, Jamie Allred and family, Denise Dove and family, and Darren Dove and family. Her many friends also share in the celebration of such an incredible woman. Elizabeth graduated from Westlake High School in 1995. She journeyed onto Southwestern University, earning her Bachelors of Arts in Business with a minor in Sociology in 1999. Elizabeth's education culminated with attaining her law degree, with honors, from the University of Texas Law School, class of 2004. She began her career with Akin Gump in Houston and was presently a practicing attorney with the Austin firm, Baker Botts, LLP. Throughout her life, Elizabeth's faith, vitality, loyalty, spirit and joi de vivre served as an inspiration to all she met and befriended. Her desire to learn and explore was clearly evident in the joy she felt traveling and being active. She explored many destinations, always eager to find new adventures. A dedicated and hard worker, Elizabeth excelled in both her professional and personal life. She touched many lives, apparent in the solid friendships still going strong from childhood, her Tri Delta days, law school and other adventures along the way. Elizabeth loved fun, and she so enjoyed going to UT football games to root on the Horns. Elizabeth's love of family and friends is reflected in the love so many have for her. Always a devoted daughter, an incredibly loving sister and a faithful friend, she will be remembered, cherished and missed by so many. Thank you, Elizabeth, for your love, laughter, light & sharing your short life with us all. A Memorial service is planned for Friday, July 31st at 10 am at Tarrytown United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elizabeth Ann Murfee Fund for Brain Cancer Research at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
