Druese Burns Lewis, 88, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024. She was born on December 26, 1935 in Portales, New Mexico to Robert Lee Burns and Mattie Hartzel Burns. Druese graduated from Buda High School. She worked many years for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission where she ultimately retired from. Druese loved square dancing, crafting ceramics, and was involved in Explorer Scouting as a sponsor. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Ray Lewis; her parents, Robert Lee Burns and Mattie Burns; sister, Rosa Lee Bishop; and brother, George "Harty" Burns.
Druese is survived by her son, Richard Lewis; daughter-in-law, Diana Lewis; grandson, Craig Lewis and wife Sarah; great-grandson, Hauser Lewis; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heavenly Care Home Health, Magnolia Hospice, and The Legacy Oaks Assisted Living for all of their love and care during this time.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Richard Lewis, Craig Lewis, Mitch Pope, Greg Redden, Luken Sheafe, and Adam Acosta; Honorary pallbearer will be Hauser Lewis.
A visitation for Druese will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral H, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
