Dorothy Futch Kirby was born on August 25, 1935 in Union Parish, Louisiana to Alma and Jesse Futch. Dorothy has two brothers, Don and Carl Futch. On November 27, 1963, Dorothy married Stanley Kirby. Dot and Stan have two children, Susan McDaniel of Austin, Texas, and Steve Curtis Kirby of Denver, Colorado. Dot has a grandson and a granddaughter in the Austin area, Kirby and Megan McDaniel, both children of her daughter Susan. Dot has a dachshund named Ivy Ann, who has been her loyal lap dog for many years.
Dot was a caring and compassionate person who lived life to its fullest, and was loved by all who knew her.
Friends may pay their respects at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Grimes Chapel of Bethany United Methodist Church on Anderson Mill Road in Austin. Funeral services will follow in the Sanctuary of the Church at 2:30 p.m., with Reverend Tom Deviney officiating. A reception will follow the services. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery in Farmerville, LA on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dot's name to the American Heart Association.
