Dorothy taught in the Kerens Texas High School. Jim worked as a State Auditor specializing in college and university auditing. Jim then took a job with Texas A & I College in Kingsville and later the couple moved to Austin where they resided until Jim's death in 2002. Jim was the Chief Business Officer and Vice President for Business Affairs of The University of Texas at Austin. Together they were long-time members of the University United Methodist Church and charter members of their beloved Couples Plus Class.
To think of Dorothy was to think of her consummate skill as a pianist who gave freely of her time and talent for the enrichment of the lives of others; in church services, Sunday School, nursing homes and the joy of entertaining friends and family. She played many genres from jazz to classical but had a special affection and mastery of Ragtime music and especially the music of Scott Joplin. She began playing when she was very young and spent many happy hours on the piano bench bringing pleasure to all within hearing distance and still playing till the day she died.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Mary Klein of Marysville, Ohio and Kimberly Bohonsky and her husband Richard and their two daughters, Alison of Plano, Texas and Natalie of Palm Springs Garden, Florida. She has one great granddaughter, Peyton Bohonsky of Plano, Texas.
Interment was beside her husband on March 11th, 2015 in Austin Memorial Park during a private memorial.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Music Fund of the University United Methodist Church, 24th and Guadalupe, Austin, Texas 78705 or the Settlement Home, 1600 Peyton Gin Road, Austin, Texas 78758.
