She was born on June, 29, 1921 in Coleman County, Texas to the proud parents of Ellen and Ed Morrison alongside her twin, Dorothy.
She married the love of her life, Howard K. Shackelford, on October 4, 1941. Austin, Texas was their home most of their adult life.
She graduated from Centennial High School in 1937, then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Texas and earned her Masters degree in Education from Texas State College.
She taught 3rd and 4th grade from 1958 to 1980 and was a favorite teacher of many of her students at Pecan Springs and then Hill Elementary. She was awarded “Teacher of the Year” in 1976 and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was a master quilter and proud member of the Austin Dutch Dolls Quilting Bee since 1981.
Her love for playing bridge spanned decades and she participated until the age of 89.
A proud member of Hyde Park Baptist Church, she joyfully enjoyed going to services and congregating with her Sunday School group.
She is survived by her son, David Shackelford and his wife, Connie; her granddaughter, Maureen Haskell, and her husband, Scot; her great-grandchildren, Faith and Will Haskell; her twin sister, Dorothy Rauch, and baby sister, Hazel Barnett, and her spouse, Bennie; her son-in-law, Randy Hemming, husband of her daughter Dottie Shackelford Hemming.
She is preceded by Howard K. Shackelford her loving husband of 64 years, daughter Dottie Shackelford Hemming, son Larry Shackelford, Al Rauch husband of her sister Dorothy Rauch, her oldest sister Lena Taylor and her husband Allen second oldest sister Dempsey Cook and her husband Orville.
She is survived and preceded by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her very much.
So many speak of how they always felt so loved and special when she was conversing with them. She had a natural way of smiling and laughing that uplifted you.
We miss her and find comfort knowing she has gone home.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Sunday, the 20th of January 2013, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the
21st of January 2013, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas.
