He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mignon Wagner, Louise Marie Graham and Yvonne Duderstadt; and brother, Kenneth Lightsey.
Donald is survived by his son, Donnie; brother, Jerry Lightsey and wife Louise of Austin; sister, Jo Larue Stannard, Buda, Texas; as well as two grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; family members and a large host of friends.
Donald was a member of the IBEW Local #520 Electrical Workers until retirement when the serene hill country, golf courses and lake fishing lured him to the Kingsland area. Classic Country Western Swing Music was also a passion for him stemming from a family with rich musical central Texas roots. His love for golf with “a fair handicap” afforded him the great opportunity in 1987 to play in The Legends of Golf Pro Am paired with Orville Moody.
He will be remembered for his quick wit and funny stories of years past, “most of which were about himself” and, if you knew him you have your own stories.
A Memorial Service honoring Donald’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue, with Reverend Mark Gardner officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Charity of your choice.
