Dominic Giarratani

Dominic Francis Giarratani III, was born on September 17, 1970 to Dominic and Tanya Giarratani. He graduated from Boston Latin School in 1988 and received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology in 1992 from the University of Texas at Austin. Subsequently, he graduated with a Master in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin (LBJ School of Diplomacy), and received two more Masters at Boston College in Business Administration and Finance.

Dominic was a public servant at heart and worked at the Texas Legislative Budget Board, House Appropriations Committee, and on the Government Relations Team with the Texas Association of School Boards.

Dominic married Shafeeqa Watkins in 2005 and they were proud to welcome three beautiful children, Helen, Dominic IV and Victoria.

Dominic loved Christ, rock and roll, playing his multitude of guitars and spending time with his wife and children. He loved listening to Helen play violin, reading the action Bible with Dominic IV and dancing with Victoria. His family and friends will always remember him as witty, courageous and continually positive, and as a devoted husband and father.

Dom is survived by his wife of 14 years, Shafeeqa (Watkins) Giarratani; children Helen, Dominic IV (DJ) and Victoria; mother, Tanya Giarratani: siblings Danikka Giarratani Moses, Tanya Giarratani Sprinkel and Talitha Giarratani; father and mother-in law Helen and Eugene Watkins; and many other beloved family members and friends.

The family would like to thank the medical professionals and staff at Livestrong Cancer Institute, M.D. Anderson and in Texas Oncology and Dominic’s colleagues at TASB for their care and support.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 5455 Bee Caves Rd, Austin, Texas 78746.
