Dennis Van Austin, 67, of Austin, passed away on October 5, 2010. Dennis was born May 28, 1943. He grew up in Midland, Michigan with his parents, Helen and George “Tex” Austin and his two brothers, Dick and Greg. Dennis attended Albion College and Michigan State where he received his MBA. In 1967 he started his career with IBM where he worked as a manager and consultant until his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, backpacking and hiking. He was an avid reader and had a great appreciation for music and the arts. His friends enjoyed his sense of humor and his love of telling a good story.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle; his brother, Greg; his nephews, Brian and Dale; and his niece, Christina.
A memorial service will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church in Austin on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 10 am.
