David Price Batey of Leander, passed away at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, on November 18th, 2024, after a brief illness. David was born February 25, 1964, in Austin, Texas, the fourth child of Verna Geraldine Price Batey and Elmer Hugh Batey.
After graduating from Crockett High School in 1982, David joined the United States Army where he proudly served as a Military Policeman at Fliegerhorst Kasern, Germany and Fort McClellan, AL. After his tour, David attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management while participating in ROTC.
In college, David met the love of his life, a fellow ROTC student, Michelle Berard. They married in March of 1990, and shipped out to Germany where David served with the 558th MP Co. at Kriegsfeld Army Depot; the 59th Ordinance Brigade in Pirmasens; and the 230th MP Co. in Kaiserslautern.
After his active-duty service, David returned to the Austin area and continued to serve with the Texas Army National Guard with whom he deployed to Tazar, Hungary in 1997 with the stabilization force for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 1997, David and Michelle welcomed their first child Raymond, followed by Verna in 1999 and Lynette in 2002. The growing family settled down in Leander, where David worked for the school district for many years. In later years, David graciously took on the role of loving caregiver for his aging parents. He was the best husband, father, son and brother that anyone could ask for.
David is survived by his loving wife Michelle Batey, and his beloved children Raymond Batey, Verna Batey and Lynette Batey.
A Celebration of Life will be held Dec 14th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4600 Manchaca Road, Austin, TX 78745.
