Cynthia Maria Foster

Cynthia Maria Foster, age 70, passed away on April 25, 2023, in Austin, Texas. While we are deeply saddened at her passing, we find great comfort in the fact that she is no longer in pain. She has joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her Mother Mary, and Brother Roland in Heaven.

As an Austin High School Graduate in 1970, Cynthia was proud to be a Maroon and a Loyal Forever Alumni. After high school, she attended business college. Upon completing her education, she went on to work for the Department of Health, and Austin Community College as an Executive Administrative Assistant.

In her younger years, Cynthia was quite the athlete. She played co-rec volleyball and softball and enjoyed playing tennis. She was an avid sports fan. Nothing could keep her from her Cowboys. In fact, when the Cowboy’s training camp was hosted at St Edward's University, she went every single day. The UT Longhorns was another favorite team of hers. She even had a coveted picture with Earl Campbell that she treasured. Basketball was a close second love for Cynthia, she enjoyed watching the Spurs play and was a huge Blake Griffin fan.

The song Dancing Queen may have well been written with Cynthia in mind. She loved to go out and dance the night away at places like the South 40, and the Sundowner. Although she was not a pool shark, she could definitely give you a run for your money. She enjoyed going to play billiards at Moyers on Airport Boulevard and would often take siblings along and teach them how to play the game she so loved.

Our sister Cynthia was a free spirit. She was intelligent, beautiful, generous, loving and kind. She had style and grace and could match you wit for wit. Never afraid to back down from a fight for something she truly believed in. She was one of a kind and this world will never know another like her.

The family would like to take time to recognize our oldest brother Raymond for always taking care of Cynthia. As her health began to decline over these past 15 years, he was there for her every step of the way, as a caretaker, an advocate, and a devoted brother. We could not have asked for better care for her and we are eternally grateful.

Cynthia was survived by her sisters Diana (husband Freddy), Sandra Jean, Pearl, Liz and Joy (husband Charles), her brothers Raymond, Arthur (wife Nelda), John, and Frank.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Lopez, and brother Roland Foster.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home on South Congress from 4pm-8pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
