Clayton “Corky” Willis was born July 19, 1939, in Sacramento California, and resided near Bastrop Texas. He passed away on July 27, 2023, at the age of 84. He was the loving husband of 64 years to Ewalda (Klein) who survives him along with daughter Vickie Paterra (Leo), Son Jeff Willis, grandchildren Clay, Portia, Olivia, and sisters Sandy McDaniel and Kez Lemerise (Mike) nephew and niece Josh & Hanna and sister-in-law LaRay Van Meter (John). He was an entrepreneur, having owned C&W Plumbing in Bastrop Texas for over 26 years. As a master plumber, he took great pride in providing outstanding service to all his customers.
He also had a special talent for making things. If he could visualize it, he could make it. He often made the tools he needed when working on machinery. He enjoyed restoring his 1966 yellow Mustang. He made bows for his sisters and taught them how to use them. He also made rolling pins and a paper towel holder out of mesquite. He like to collect and polish stones and give them to his grandchildren. Because of his heritage he would find flint and knap reproduction arrow heads.
He also had a tender heart for animals. He had several dogs throughout his life and later in life he developed a special fondness for cats.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 13, Cook-Walden/Forrest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bastrop County Animal Shelter at https://www.co.bastrop.tx.us/page/as.animal_services (589 Cool Water Drive, Bastrop, TX 78602) or a charity of your choice.
