Christine was born in the Bronx, New York City, on March 11, 1964, to John J. Gerace, Jr. and Grace Sturm Gerace. She grew up in Bellaire, Texas and moved to Leander in 1985. She graduated from Texas State University and worked for the State of Texas as a financial analyst and contract manager for the Department of Health and Human Services until her death.
Christine was known for her dependable, down-to-earth character and wonderful sense of humor. A friend to all, she was a sensitive and caring person who tried to be kind and helpful to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Terry E. Cochran; her father, John Gerace, Jr.; her daughter, Chrystal Cochran; and her son, Terry Cochran, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie T. Becker; her mother, Grace Gerace; and her grandson, Jason Eugene Cochran. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Margaret Stevenson, and her husband Mark; her sister, Barbara Gerace; her brothers, John Gerace and wife Joy, James Gerace and wife Rose, and Paul Gerace and wife Janette; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and great-nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held at 6:00 p.m., with rosary services at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1101 W. New Hope Road in Cedar Park. Interment will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander.
