Catalina Chavez Rangel

Catalina Chavez Rangel, 51, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024. She was born on December 24, 1972, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, to her loving parents Jesus Chavez and Eva Rangel.

A devout member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Austin, Catalina was deeply involved in her church community. She dedicated countless hours to volunteering and supporting others through prayer and acts of kindness. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she found joy in helping those around her. Whether visiting hospitals to pray with those in need or cooking meals for funeral fundraisers to assist grieving families, Catalina’s generosity knew no bounds.

Catalina was a devoted mother to her three children, Angel, Luis, and Juan, and a proud grandmother to Jesus and Penelope. She also cherished her siblings Teresa, Guadalupe, Dolores, Rosa, Martin, Mario, and Armando. Her family was the heart of her world.

Known for her warm spirit and giving nature, Catalina brought happiness wherever she went. She had a special love for cats and an extraordinary talent for cooking. Her mole and menudo were beloved by all who had the privilege of tasting them—meals prepared with love that reflected her caring soul.

Catalina’s legacy is one of compassion and selflessness. She believed in spreading joy and ensuring the happiness of others. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A visitation for Catalina will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. A recitation of the holy rosary will occur Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E 2nd St, Austin, TX 78702.
