She was preceded in death by her parents, David J. and Marie (Johnson) Carlson and her husband, Clifford W. Johnson, Sr.
She was born June 2, 1934, and grew up in Austin, Texas. She graduated from Austin High School and Nixon Business College. She was employed by Tracor as an Executive Secretary. After retirement, both Carolyn and Clifford were volunteers at St. David’s in the ICU and NICU.
Carolyn’s faith was important to her. She was an active member of Abiding Love Lutheran Church, serving on the membership care board and the Hannah Circle, the food pantry and was involved in numerous other activities in the church.
Carolyn was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. Her family was rounded out by her two cats, Honey and Poppy.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Teri L. Atkinson of Lago Vista Texas; and son, William D. Atkinson of Austin Texas; granddaughters, Shelby and Payton; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Dianne Johnson of New Hope, Minnesota, Paul and Shirley Johnson of Brenham, Texas, Cliff and Ann Johnson of Childress, Texas, and Steve and Brenda Johnson of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Mike Johnson, Jon Johnson, Susanna Johnson, Tim Johnson, Peter Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Jared Johnson, Josh Johnson, Jillian Johnson, Johannah Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Brittany Johnson, Angela Fisher, and Benjamin Curry; and great-grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Seth Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Isaiah Johnson, Maxwell Bevers, Thomas Bevers, Anderson Bevers, Jesse Johnson, Silas Johnson, Alexis Fisher, and Corbitt Fisher III. Carolyn is also survived by close friend Carol Prosper of Lago Vista, Texas.
Carolyn was a good and kind person, a compassionate individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Abiding Love Lutheran Church, located at 7210 Brush Country Road with Pastor Lynnae Sorenson and Pastor Brad Highum to officiate. Carolyn will be laid to rest at 4:00 p.m. in Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
