Caroline Ella Murrah Barnett of Dallas, Texas passed away in Austin, Texas on June 1, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born in Prescott, Arkansas on January 23, 1923 to Finis E. Murrah and Lola Iris Wilson Murrah. She grew up in Prescott and after attending college in nearby Arkadelphia; she moved to Dallas and began working for the IRS. Shortly thereafter, she met and married James Riley Barnett in 1950. They resided in Ft. Worth and El Paso, finally settling in Dallas where they raised their 2 sons, James Riley Barnett, Jr. (Jim) and Robert Murrah Barnett (Bob).
Raising 2 sons kept Caroline busy, however when they went to school she returned to work. She continued her career with the government, finally retiring after years of dedicated service from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 39 years, James Riley Barnett.
Caroline is survived by her son Jim and his wife Cindy of Austin, her granddaughter Brooke of California, her grandson James Riley Barnett, III (Trey), his wife Joan and her great- granddaughter Elliot of Asheville North Carolina also, her son Bob, his wife Kathy and her grandson Mark of Allen, Texas.
Services will be held at Laurel Land chapel in Dallas Texas on Tuesday, June 9 at 2pm with interment to follow.
