Callie attended Dew schools and graduated from Teague High School. During World War II, she worked in the Houston shipyards where she met George Anderson; they married in Austin in 1946. Callie retired from Federal Civil Service after working for 8th Army and for Internal Revenue Service. After her retirement she played piano and sang in the church choir at Rosedale Baptist Church.
She is survived by Norma Anderson and Esther Benedict of Pipe Creek, Texas; George Anderson and Lisa Knipfer of Austin, Texas; Jan Jordan of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Jordan of Austin, Texas and Laura and Aaron Navarro of San Antonio, Texas; great-granddaughter, Alice Navarro of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful and gives special thanks to Dr. R Scott Ream and Dr. K. Randall Pierce who provided many years of compassionate care; Dr. Michael Pellegrini and the entire staff at Buckner Villas-the Harbor, Campbell and Hospice for their attentive care.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from half past six until eight o’clock in the evening, on Saturday, the 3rd of August 2013, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 4th of August 2013, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas.
