Billy Clark Nabors, Sr. went home to be with the Lord the early morning of September 12, 2022 after a long illness. He was born at home on September 4, 1935 to O.H. and Hassie Nabors, outside of McMinnville, Tennessee. When he was young, Bill’s parents moved throughout the country but finally settled in Houston, Texas. Bill started Nabors Glass Co., Inc. in 1971 and grew it into a successful commercial glass business for over 45 years.
Bill was previously married to Rosalie Spitzenberger Grant and was the proud father to son, Billy and daughter, Linda. He married Debbie Hasley in 1997 and they worked side by side in the glass business and on the ranch they shared in Hempstead, Texas with Debbie’s sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Jim Squier. When Bill was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 17 years ago, the two couples shared a home, enjoyed their horses, traveled together, and in addition to being family, were the best of friends.
We appreciate the loving care our Dad received these last 10 months at Alexis Pointe Memory Care in Wimberley, Texas; and the exceptional support he received from his caregiver, Sonia, and the nurses, and staff from Alamo Hospice. There truly are angels on earth and we could not have made it through Dad’s illness without their love and kindness.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Lee, and his dear wife Debbie. He is survived by son, Billy Nabors, Jr. and wife, Christina; daughter, Linda Pittsford and husband, Gordon; granddaughters, Sally Murphy and husband, Brent; Karen Nabors and wife, Ashley Castro; Natalie Hudgens and husband, Brett; Halie Beckham and husband, Brady; great grandchildren, Lindy Murphy, Elouise Beckham, Charlotte Beckham, Miles Murphy, Piper Hudgens, and Henry Beckham; Debbie’s children Kevin Hasley and wife, Brandy; and Amanda Hasley; sister-in-law Bonnie Squier and husband, Jim; sister-in-law Debbie Deason Nabors; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Although they are no longer with us, Bill’s life was richly blessed to call the following men his friends. Honorary pall bearers are: Charles “Lindy” Wilson, Clarence Kolbe, Billy Franklin, Charlie Wooten, Harry Hughes, Bill Lovett, and Garland Prosise.
A memorial service will be held on October 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church – Cypress Campus, 29900 Hwy 290, Cypress, TX 77433. Private interment.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
