During his college years, Bill was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He earned his BBA from The University of Texas, then served in the Finance Corps of the U.S. Army while stationed in Korea, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. He returned to Austin to pursue a career in real estate.
A licensed Broker since 1959, Bill was involved in a wide variety of transactions but was particularly proud of his involvement in the sale of properties for development, including the Davenport Ranch, Rob Roy Ranch, and the property now known as Lohman's Crossing. In 1968, he married Ann Lavercombe Doctorman and helped her raise a beautiful family.
Throughout the years, Bill's love and knowledge of gardening was legendary. He was a true artist in this medium. Designing and nurturing the spectacular backdrop for the annual “Doctorman Tulip Party” was his passion.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jack and Janet Allen of Austin; his daughter, Julie Remboldt of Lake Oswego, Oregon; and four grandchildren, Boone and Amanda Allen, and Jake and Jess Remboldt.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 3, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Austin High School Continuing Education Foundation, c/o Austin Trust Company, 336 S. Congress, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78704, Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Austin, or a charity of your choice.
