In 1921 the Beatty family moved to Estancia, New Mexico where she grew up and spent her enjoyable life and attended Estancia High School for half a year before the family moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico.
She was a graduate of Las Cruces Union High School in Las Cruces, NM. She was a Member of Rainbow Girls Chapter 12 of Las Cruces. She held a BA degree from New Mexico State University and was a Graduate of the Class of 1945. In December 1939 she became a charter member of Pi Delta Chapter of Chi Omega.
Azada taught school in Santa Rita and Hurley, NM. She was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture in Las Cruces, NM and in Lexington, KY.
Azada was married to Dr. John F. Cotnam, Col. USAF retired, and had one son John Beatty Cotnam.
In December 1951 she was married to Leonard P (Chick) Henry of Silver City, NM.
She is survived by son John Beatty Cotnam, Austin, TX, daughter Laura Henry Eanes and husband Dr. Sterling Eanes of Hollis, NH; three grandchildren, Janet Whatmough of Nashua, NH, Ginger St. Hilaire (Jeremy), Robert Henry Eanes (Jen) of Austin, TX; Five great-grandchildren, Ian A. Whatmough, Logan Henry St. Hilaire, Colton Patrick St. Hilaire, Scarlet Laura St. Hilaire of Nashua, New Hampshire and Wyatt Sterling Eanes of Austin, TX; one niece Tausbee Ordway Knight of Arlington, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister June Beatty Ordway and her grandson-in-law John Whatmough.
Azada joined St Paul's Methodist Church in Las Cruces, NM. She said, "My heart is a Methodist, I sometimes think like a Baptist and I love my Catholic friends."
After cremation, the ashes will be buried beside her family in the West Irvine Cemetery, West Irvine, Kentucky.
