It is with great sadness that we announce that Arunkumar R. Amin passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024 at his home in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. We are grateful to Hospice Austin for giving him the opportunity to spend his last days at home in comfort. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we also hold a deep appreciation for the joy and love he brought to our lives.
Born in 1936 to Raojibhai and Vasumatiben Amin near Baroda, Gujarat, India; Arun had an unwavering dedication to both his family and his faith. Arun’s legacy is one of love and compassion, leaving behind cherished memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Having moved with his family to Nairobi, Kenya at the age of four. Arun returned to Bombay (Mumbai) and earned his BSC in Chemistry at the University of Bombay. Coming back to Mombasa, Kenya to start his career as a pharmaceutical sales representative, he met and married the love of his life, Chandrika, in 1961. Over the next few years, they moved from Kenya to England and finally, in 1976, to the United States, where they settled in San Marcos, Texas with their two children, Nirav and Shilpa. Here they embarked on a new career path in hotel development and enjoyed great success.
Arun became a member of the Hindu Temple, Barsana Dham in 1992. He could often be found there in the kitchen cooking meals for the many devotees of the temple. He particularly enjoyed playing the harmonium and chanting kirtans (devotional songs).
Arun was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family, including his many siblings, nieces, nephews, and numerous grandchildren. He was a kind and generous man with a beautiful sense of humor and he always has a quick smile for everyone. He always put others first and found the positive in any situation. His joy was contagious and his laughter will not be forgotten.
