Amalia C. Muniz

Though after her mother became a widow she moved her 5 children to Monterrey Mexico, Nuevo Leon to start a better life. On April 14, 1956, she married her loving husband Louis Muniz in Monterrey, Mexico, Nuevo Leon. Once married she moved to Austin, TX where her husband resided, and they were married for 49 years prior to his passing. They raised 4 children Luz Maria, Trish, Luis Antonio, and Victor.

She worked as a building attendant at The University of Texas at Austin, J.J Pickle Research Campus from 1970-2001 with 31 years of service.

She was actively involved at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and was one of the members who started the Spanish Choir and the Spanish Prayer Group. She was also involved with the Sociedades Guadalupanas, served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister, visited the sick at the hospital to distribute Eucharistic Minister until her health prevented her to continue these activities.

She is preceded in death by parents Jose Cordova Martinez and Francisa Mojica Martinez. Husband Louis Muniz. And grandchild Carlos Hernandez.

She survived by her children Trish, Luis Antonio, Luz Maria and Victor. Along with having 9 grandkids: Zachary Ortiz, Rosa Jenkins, Esperanza Hernandez, Luisa Hernandez, Gernando Hernandez, Natalie Torrez, Jacob Torrez, John Muniz and Jessica Muniz. And along with having 7 great grandchildren: Jazzy Jenkins, Ajaya Hernandez, Chris Hernandez, Ryan Figueroa, Mia Figueroa, Taylor Figueroa, Kylee Figueroa.

A visitation for Amalia will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752. A rosary will occur Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 7:00 PM, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Saint Louis King of France Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Rd, Austin, Texas 78757. A committal service will occur Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, Texas 78704.
