Alvino C. Ramirez died from complications following heart surgery in Austin, Texas, on Monday, May 10, 2004, at the age of 68. He was born August 3, 1935, in Karnes City, Texas, to Alfredo and Atalia Cantu Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mary and Clotilde, and his brothers Alfredo and Baldemar. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, and by sisters Ophelia and husband Longino, Elena, Jesusa, and Guadalupe, and sisters-in-law Mary and Alicia. Survivors include his children, Ralph and wife Linda, David and wife Gloria, Atalia and Allyn, and his step-children, Amy Farris , Jeff Farris and wife Susan. His beloved grandchildren are Ralph, Roger, Lindsey, Alex, Amanda, Jacob and Henry. He is also survived by a large extended family. Alvino was proud of his family and of his 46 years in the fire service. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1972 and from the State Fire Marshals Office in 1998. His lawn and flowers are beautiful and caring for them was a great pleasure for him. His hospitality, his briskets and rice, and his generosity were beyond measure. He is a very special person who will be missed by everyone he encountered in his life. There will be open visitation beginning at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home A funeral service will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor Magdalene Holm-Roesler officiating.
