Alvaro “Tuts” Ovidio Echeverria of Round Rock, TX, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born on March 26, 1949, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He was a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, and father figure.
Alvaro dedicated much of his life to his craft as a tailor, working for many years at the Motion Picture Association, where he earned numerous awards for his exceptional craftsmanship. Later in his career, he also worked at Men’s Wearhouse, where he retired with pride, knowing that he had spent his professional life doing what he loved.
Beyond his professional achievements, Alvaro was a deeply devoted man of faith. He was an active member of his church, attending services every Sunday and always eager to listen to the word of God. His spiritual life was a central part of who he was, and he found great strength in his relationship with God.
In his free time, Alvaro found joy in simple pleasures. He loved playing golf, often spending hours on the course, and he cherished watching old movies with his cousin, Piedad. But perhaps most of all, Alvaro valued time spent with his family. Whether it was taking care of his nieces and nephews or simply being with them, he always put his loved ones first. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and he made it his mission to ensure that they were well cared for.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rufino Echeverria, and his mother, Carlota Echeverria.
He is survived by his cousin, Piedad Amado; his brother, Jaime Echeverria; his nieces Dina Amado and her husband Eric Camarillo, Jazel Thompson and her husband Graeme Thompson, Ashley Briones, Angie Amado, Wendy Amado, and Erica Duque and her husband Jose Duque; and his nephews Fernando Amado, Erwin Amado Sr., Erwin Amado Jr., Jesse Briones and his wife Linda Briones, Ezekiel Camarillo, and John Amado.
Alvaro’s sacrifices, selflessness, and the love he showed to those around him will be remembered forever. His legacy of kindness, devotion, and faith will live on in the hearts of his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him
