Alfred was preceded in death by his loving son, Ronald; brothers, Joseph and Ernest; and parents, Josephine and Joseph. His memory lives on with his wife of 58 years, Juanita; seven children which includes his daughter, Mary Alice Cook; six sons, Alfred Jr., David, John, Paul, James, and Michael; along with his sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Navy veteran of WWII and a charter member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Parish in Houston, Texas, Alfred Ochoa will long be remembered as a man of many passions, and endless tales of a life well lived and well loved.
Dad always had a kind word and always found the good and positive in everyone he met. From his shipmates during the long nights in the Pacific, the undivided attention of his grandchildren, to the residents and staff of Parson’s House in Austin, where he lived the past 3 years, Alfred always had a story unique for everyone.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. David’s Medical Center in Austin for the loving care and attention they provided Grandpa.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9500 Neenah Avenue, Austin, Texas. Immediately following, the family will host a celebration of Alfred’s life in the Parish Hall.
