"Albert," born on November 30, 1933 in Hebbronville, Texas, was the youngest son of Arturo and Olivia Gutierrez and little brother to Alvaro Gutierrez.
His marriage to Elia Garza (June, 1958) led to the births of their four children Alynn Riley, Alda Thompson, Alban Gutierrez and Alane Gutierrez. He was the proud grandfather to his seven grandchildren Andrew and Zachary Riley, Elias and Isaac Thompson, and Alton, Austin, and Alexis Gutierrez.
After serving in the US Army from 1956-1958, Albert earned his bachelor's degree in education, served as a social worker, then became a US Dept of Agriculture Federal Agent and played a key role in developing the food stamp program.
Giving of himself, Albert served as Scout Leader and volunteer for Boy Scouts of America for more than 50 years. He and wife Elia were very involved with the Community of Corpus Christi often volunteering in a variety of organizations including: Reading literacy, Area Council on Aging and countless others.
Services will be held on Monday, April 30th 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church located at 10000 David Moore Dr, Austin, TX 78748.
Burial Services will be held Tuesday, May1st 2:00 pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
