When Joe passed away, a part of me died with him.  Joe and I have been friends for 50 years and I know he thought of me as a best friend as I did of him.  
     I have so many memories of Joe and our relationship, that I don’t know where to begin.
     During the NFL season, Joe and I would talk football all week and share ideas on which teams we liked the best. Every year, Joe and I and many of our male friends would enjoy a Superbowl party each February.  Our first Superbowl parties began at Joe & Nancy’s house and eventually moved to our house in Thornhill.  
     Going back 40+ years, Joe and I would play bridge with friends on a regular basis or in tournaments at the Royal York.  We both enjoyed playing cards and besides the game of bridge, we would occasionally visit various casinos in Ontario, New Jersey and Nevada to play blackjack.
     Joe, Nancy, Melanie & I would periodically travel together, usually to a ‘gambling’ mecca.  We have fond memories of our times in Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Foxwood’s Resort in Connecticut. Especially memorable was the time on New Year’s Eve when Joe and Melanie were rooting for Nancy and me during a Chubby Checkers’ twist contest at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.  We came 2nd (thanks to Nancy)!
     Joe was generous with his time and advice whenever we had plumbing issues, quite often insisting on coming to our house to fix the problems, even when he was in his 80s.
    Wisdom was one of Joe’s hidden attributes. When sought, Joe’s advice on any matter was always thoughtful. His advice was always grounded on sound common sense.
     Over the years, Joe and I have shared our highs and lows, much laughter, memories of mutual friends, and a respect for each other’s way of thinking.  
     What I will cherish the most is the deep respect we had for each other.
    Joe, I will miss you beyond words.

My condolences to Nancy and family. I didn't know Joe well, but I do know he had a sense of humor and always enjoyed a good horse race as well as a good human race - namely his family and relatives. May God comfort you at this time with the peace that surpasses all understanding. God bless you. (I think I'm related somehow, such as a relative-in-law since I married Joe's brother John's wife's sister. But I'm too old to figure that one out so I'll just sign it as friend.)

Uncle Joe was kind man who helped many people. Rest in Peace

Having my sister move to Canada from the United States was tough.  But what made me feel comforted was that Joe looked after her as if she were his own daughter.  Joe was a wonderful father and grandfather and I am better for having known him.  Love to all -

Although we met only occasionally, you and Joe were often in our thoughts, and we always enjoyed your company.   May the happy memories of many years together bring you comfort and peace. Our Uncle Joe had a big influence on me and my siblings. We looked forward to his visits as kids and were blessed to have him in our lives as adults. He was always there through the good and bad. Lending a helping hand or sharing a joke or funny story. A good man who gave of himself without fanfare. A life well lived. God bless.

Joe's great loves were Nancy, horse racing, NFL football and golf in that order.  Whenever we enjoy any of the sports activities, we must think of Joe and always with tears in our eyes but a smile on our face.
