

Hildegard Reinthaler passed away peacefully on Thursday April 10, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on July 23, 1929, in Allhaming, Austria to her loving parents, Maximilian and Franziska Herndl, Hildegard lived a life filled with love, resilience, and devotion to her family.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Hubert, and her brother Erwin. Hildegard is survived by her son Harold and daughter Susanne, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Known affectionately as "Oma," Hildegard was a loving grandmother to Cassandra, Maximillian, Mallory, Anitta, and Dylan. Her joy extended further as she became a great-grandmother to Damon, Gwendolyn, Esmae, Anastasia, Everett, Josephine, and Collins. Her family was the center of her world, and she found immense happiness in their company.
In 1953, Hildegard embarked on a new chapter in her life, immigrating from Austria to Canada with her husband Hubert to build a brighter future together. This journey marked the beginning of a life filled with hope and opportunity.
Hildegard was renowned for her impeccable sense of style and flair for fashion, which she expressed through her exquisite taste and remarkable talent for sewing. She lovingly crafted many of her clothes, showcasing her creativity and skill with every stitch. Her love for cooking was equally celebrated, as she delighted family and friends with traditional Austrian dishes, filling homes with warmth and delicious aromas. Her culinary skills were a testament to her creativity and generosity, bringing people together through the joy of food. Hildegard also had a special place in her heart for animals, cherishing the companionship and joy they brought to her life
For the last two years of her life, Hildegard resided at Sherwood Court Long Term Care Centre in Maple, Ontario. During her time there, she was deeply loved and cared for by the staff, who cherished her warmth and spirit.
Hildegard’s life was a testament to perseverance and grace. Her Austrian roots remained an integral part of her identity, influencing the warmth and hospitality she shared with everyone around her. Her passing leaves an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A funeral mass for Hildegard will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15347 Yonge St, Aurora.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Ontario SPCA and Humane Society (ontariospca.ca) or the Alzheimer Society of Canada (alzheimer.ca).
