Gladys is survived by her husband Eugene Roland Taylor, 98 years young. Together they raised 4 children, Daniel (Vi), Joel (Bev), Andrew and Jacqueline (Ken). She was Gamma to 5 granddaughters Megan, Alexandra, Hannah, Vanessa and Emma and 3 great grandsons Beck, Max and Sloan.
Gladys was born into a large loving family on July 5th 1933 in the small farming community of Sawyerville, Quebec. She was lovingly cared for by her parents Irene and Wendell and was the youngest sibling to Dulcie, Kathleen, Norman, Bette, Joyce and Janis. A baby brother Morris predeceased her.
Under the guidance of Joyce, she left for the big city to begin a career in nursing. Not long after, she met her husband Gene and together they were married for 69 years. Living in Toronto, then buying a house in Aurora, they began family life alongside her dearest friend MaryLou Kearns. They grew their families together with great joy.
She was a loving mother and friend to many. A welcoming and astute listener, it was her nature to encourage and offer help or volunteer her time at church. Her joy and empathy were inspiring while in her company. She had the good fortune of travelling to many places throughout her life with family and friends.
A true farm girl, she knew a lot about food and feeding people. She loved to cook, bake and preserve and pass on her skill. Sharing the experience of food, was sharing love to her . A country artisan, evident in her wool knittings, preserves, baked breads and an open door.
She lived a long and healthy life until her final years but even in impossible times her loving eternal light was bright. We are thankful for the great care of her nurses and PSWs at AgeCare Aurora. Donations to the SPCA in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
A Memorial Service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway S., Aurora, ON. On Monday, December 16, 2024 at 10:30 am
