It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Margaret Weaver, affectionately known as “Bookie,” in her 80th year. Elizabeth passed away at home with her devoted husband of 54 years, William, by her side.
The youngest child of the late Marjorie and Varley Maurice Hibbard, Elizabeth was predeceased by her siblings Maurice, John, David, and her twin brother Michael. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Catherine Liboiron, Ann Bell, and Stephen Hibbard, as well as her many cherished nieces and nephews.
Born in Iroquois Falls, raised in Cochrane and Toronto, Elizabeth later lived in Thornton before settling in Aurora. She met Bill at the Maple Leaf Ballroom, where their love story began. Though she initially declined his offer of a ride home, choosing instead her beloved Peugeot convertible. Bill was captivated by her charm and social nature.
Elizabeth built a remarkable career at Bell Canada, rising from Operator to Area Manager, where she was known for her leadership and lasting impact. In retirement, her love for animals inspired a thriving dog-walking and pet-sitting business, further deepening her ties to the Aurora community.
A talented photographer and lover of nature, Elizabeth shared her warmth and joy wherever she went. As a snowbird in Florida, she created a tight-knit community, fostering long lasting connections.
Elizabeth’s positivity, kindness, and joyful outlook will never be forgotten. She touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of life for Elizabeth will be held Thursday, November 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Tribute Hall at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8.
