Jan 11, 1915 - Feb 5, 2012
Clare was born at Hamilton Beach, and grew up in the Hamilton/Burlington area. She married Stan Walker in 1940, and moved permanently to Aurora, with the exception of about 3 years from 1943 to 1945 when she returned to Hamilton Beach to live with her mother, Hattie Revell, and stepfather, while Stan trained and served with the Canadian Armed Forces in Canada and then England. Clare was predeceased by Stan, who passed away in May 1988.
Clare was a loving mother to Ron (Ann), Joan (John), Marilyn (John), and Peter (Mavis). She was adored by her 10 grandchildren – Brent and Sandy; Peter, Allison and Sarah; Dana, Tory and Haley; and Jennifer and Kent. She delighted in her 17 great grandchildren – Kylie and Kamryn Walker; Chloe, Avery, Meredith and William Walker; Leah, Avery and Emily Alderman; Grayson Gillis; Charlie, Georgia and Ruby Pascoe; Grace and Eddie Gaunt; and Isaac and Jun Walker.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Sunrise. Because of their caring support, Clare’s wish to remain there until the end was honoured.
An amazing lady, an inspiration to all, always putting others first, one of the most selfless people you could meet – that was Clare. She has been a great teacher, not necessarily through words, but rather by example in the way she lived her life.
An invitation is extended to family and friends to gather in Clare’s honour between 2 and 4 pm on Saturday, February 11. The reception will be held at Timberlane Athletic Club, 155 Vandorf Sideroad, L4G 1W6, phone (905) 727-0600; (turn east from Yonge St onto Industrial Parkway (south end of Aurora), then right onto Vandorf Sideroad).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clare’s favourite childrens’ charities, Easter Seals of Canada, or the Salvation Army Fresh Air Camp.
“A special person passed this way, who brightened the lives of everyone she met”
