Our inspiring, courageous, fun-loving Blair Koski-Klein passed away on January 2nd, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Blair is remembered best by those who shared in her joy of life: Andy, her husband of more than twenty years, Carson, her son and light of her life, her parents, siblings, close family and friends.
For Blair, skating was the other “love of her life” and passion – from the day she watched figure skaters glide across the ice, she flourished in training, competing, skating internationally with Ice Capades, Disney on Ice and other ice shows and eventually, coaching. She became a globetrotter, traveling the world while performing in “the show”.
After hanging up her show skates, Blair “settled down” in Canada, coaching in B.C. before moving to Richmond Hill and Aurora to continue her coaching career with Andy, which she dearly loved and the students that brought so much joy to her life. Together they have ushered many young skaters into the skating community.
Carson was born in 2002, the light of Blair and Andy’s life. Blair reveled in family life, organizing innumerable gatherings of family and friends, and building the foundation of strong family bonds.
There was a challenging side to Blair’s life as she struggled with Crohn's disease from a young age and breast cancer later in her life – but she was a fighter and met this challenge with courage, strength, laughter, and a commitment to live life to the fullest.
There are no words to describe just how truly special Blair was to her family and friends and everyone who was lucky enough to have known her. Blair’s contagious smile and laughter will forever live in our hearts and the hearts of her figure skating community.
Blair will be dearly remembered and very much missed by her husband Andy, son Carson, parents Mel and Bryn Koski, parents-in-law Henry and Wilhelmina Klein, brothers Rhys and Niles and sister Rhian, sisters-in-law Leslie, Corinne and Joanne, brothers-in-law Tony and Pat and nephews and nieces Evan, Briar, Dryden, Anna and Brittany.
We would like to thank Dr Jeejeebhoy (affectionately known as God, by Blair) for his outstanding care of Blair with her Crohn's disease and the Stronach Regional Health Centre and Dr Rahim and Dr Ayeni and all of the nurses who showed great affection and care for her too numerous chemo treatments
Oh, and for those of you who know Blair well, we can’t forget Mickey! “I’ll always be with you... right there in your heart...” – Mickey Mouse(and Blair!)
