Beloved mom of six girls, joined the Lord on Monday, February 15, 2020. She passed away at her home in Arizona after moving there six months ago at the age of 88.
Donna was born to Arnold and Augusta (Poppe) Kling. On November 27, 1932 in Gordon, Nebraska. She was the youngest of six siblings, growing up on a farm, attending elementary, and high school. She was baptized, confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Gordon, Nebraska.
She married Merle Tilton in Pilger, Nebraska on March 24, 1952. She became the best help mate he could have ever asked for. They lived in Gordon, Rushville and Alliance, Nebraska until they moved to colorful Colorado in 1958. The state she dearly loved and was a long time resident of 62 years.
Donna was known for her wonderful cooking and baked goods. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and reading, but most of all her family. Donna worked as cook for the Aurora Public Schools and Colorado Women's College. She was a hard worker and taught her girls to do the same. Yet, in the mist of her hard work she loved to do puzzles and had fun playing cards, games with her children and grandchildren. She will never know how many remember the warmth of her beautiful blue eyes and the love she always gave. Our mother didn't do everything right, but she did the important things in life exceptionally well. She loved her husband, children and family.
Donna respected others opinions. In her kind heart she cared for people. Her work is finished now "well done my good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:21
Although, absence causes us pain she's forever in our hearts until we meet again. We say goodbye but, never farewell. Your life is safe and secure in our minds, memories, and actions. You will be deeply missed.
Donna is survived by her loving husband Merle of 68 years, and 5 daughters Betty, Gloria, Jean, Judy, Susan and their respective families. Sister Ida Mae Drabbles; sister-in-law Helen Kling; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents; daughter Janice Tilton; sisters Dorothy Jensen and Inez Harris; brothers Lester and Floyd Kling.
Funeral services were in Kingman, Arizona on February 24, 2021 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. On Tuesday, March 2, 2021 Graveside services were held. She was laid to rest at Olinger Eastlawn Cemetery, Aurora, Colorado with Rev. Josh Kreppel officiating.
