Augusta, Ga. – Mr. Kermit Eugene Hasty, World War II Veteran, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016. He was born in Fitzgerald, Ga on May 30, 1922 and moved to Augusta with his family as a child. He attended the Academy of Richmond County. In 1942, he answered the call of his Country and joined the US Navy. Serving on the USS Bougainville and the USS Montpelier. After an honorable discharge from the US Navy, he returned home and became an electrician, ultimately owning his own business “Hasty’s Electric” and worked at that profession until he retired in 1992. He was a member of IBEW 1579 Electrical Union. He attended First Christian Advent Church. He loved his God, his Country, his Family, fishing and Braves baseball.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wesley W. and Bertha S. Hasty, Sister Myrtice Louise Hasty and Great Granddaughter Amber Phillips.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife Florence D. Hasty; children Eddie L. Hasty, Barbara A. Hasty, June H. (Ray) Owens; sisters Edna H. Williams, Monteen H. (Wallace) Toole, Bobbie H. Olivero; grandchildren, Angela (Chuck) Schreve, Wesley (Amanda) Hasty, Christopher (Ashley) Rowlen, Jennifer (Billy) Sturkey, Marsha (Jason) Butler, Jason and Daniel Owens, numerous Great-Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Medlock officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road. Pallbearers will be Grandsons Christopher Rowlen, Jason Owens, Daniel Owens, Nephews John Williams, Steve Williams, and Tommy Williams,
The family will receive friends Monday, September 12, 2016, from 5PM to 7PM at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
