Sharon Davis (78), devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and an all-around wonderful person left this Earth to be with her savior Jesus Christ, early Sunday morning, surrounded by her loving family on September 24th, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She grew up in Auburn and married Roger Child in 1964 until his death in 1989 just shy of celebrating their 25th anniversary. Together they had 2 children, Kathy, and Jim. She then married Carey Davis, Sr(Papa) in 1993 who brought with him 2 more children, Christel and Carey, Jr. Together they celebrated their 30th anniversary this past June and have resided in Sabattus for the past 20 years.
Sharon was born February 26, 1945. She worked for the Federal Reserve for 27 years. She was an avid card player and enjoyed a weekly game night with their dear friends Bob and Marge and enjoyed going to yard sales with her daughter Kathy most every Saturday followed by supper and an evening of playing pinochle with Papa and Dee. Grammie loved to bake and made homemade bread weekly and made sure that the cookie jar was full for the grandkids and Papa until the cancer took even that away. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her – and there were many. We were blessed to have her as long as we did and we know she is in a better place now and free from her pain that she rarely let us see.
She is survived by her husband Carey C. Davis, Sr of Sabattus, her daughter Kathy Welch of Sabattus, her son Jim Child of West Haven, CT and his wife Liz, her daughter Christel Davis of Longview, TX. Her grandchildren: Rebecca Reynolds and her husband Matt of Sabattus; Kyle Welch of Lewiston; Ashley Welch and her fiancée Kirk Loud of Sabattus; Erika Davis and her partner Allen Paul of Greene; James Child of West Haven, CT. Her sister Sheila Griffin and her husband Larry of Minot and her brother John Clements (Buddy) of Delaware. Her great-grandchildren: Kadence and Caeleb Reynolds of Sabattus, Jaidyn Reynolds of Greene; Damien Skidgell of New Gloucester and Alex Fox of Greene. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her late husband Roger Child, her son Carey C Davis, Jr and her granddaughter Brandi Skidgell.
The family would like to thank Kathy’s employer, Maine Veterans’ Homes, for allowing the flexibility in her schedule to care for her mom, to get her to all of her appointments and to be there with her at the end of her life. We would also like to thank Kathy’s best friend Dee Smith for her nursing assistance, guidance, and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Pathway Vineyard Church located at 9 Foss Road in Lewiston at 1:00PM. Please bring fond memories and stories to share.
