Richard was born in Auburn to Edward Bissonette and Fernande Cote on March 7 1939. He grew up in Lewiston attending St Peters School and Lewiston High School. At 17 he joined the National Guard and then the Air Force. While stationed in France he met his future wife Pauline Winston of Wales UK. They were married in France on March 19 1960.
Richard was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in Vietnam in 1968. Retiring after 20 years as Master Sergeant. He was very proud of his time in the service and knew everything about any airplane.
Richard became a truck driver for various companies traveling the country. He loved driving and talking about all the places he drove through. Later he drove a van for Lee Auto, he was a hard worker who provided for his family. In his free time he enjoyed watching the Red Sox Patriots, golf, old movies and British sitcoms.
Richard and our mother enjoyed traveling to various places. Especially going back to the UK where they would visit family. We will miss his stories that we heard many times.
He is survived by his loving wife, his daughter Linda Gosselin and spouse Maurice, his sons, Stephen Bissonette and spouse Daniel Cyr, and Raymond E.Bissonette, his grandson Michael Gosselin and spouse Annelie, his granddaughter Erin Gosselin and fiancé Matt Caston, his sisters Lucille Martin and spouse James, Susan Goodwin and spouse Jay, his sister-in-laws Marie Anne Bissonette, Ann Kendrick, his aunt Marguerite St Onge as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Raymond J Bissonette.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at CMMC for their compassionate care as he battled cancer.
A memorial visitation will be held for Richard on Thursday June 21st from 4-6PM in The Fortin Group Funeral Home at 217 Turner St. Auburn. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to MercyShips.org in honor of Richard.
