"Tootie"

Auburn- Lois J. "Tootie" Hunter 85, of Auburn, died Sunday January 16, 2011 at Clover Manor after a long illness. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 5, 1926 the daughter of the late Earl and Helen (Betchel) Batten. She was educated in Cleveland and graduated from East Cleveland High School. She then went on to graduate from St. Mary's School of Nursing. Tootie married William E. Hunter on April 26, 1947. He predeceased her on May 3, 1984.
Tootie worked for several Doctors here in the Auburn and Lewiston area as an office manager for over 30 years. After she retired she worked for The Dairy Frost in Brunswick and traveled to Florida and worked for the Hillsboro Club in Hillsboro, FL. during the winter.
Tootie had a love for the ocean, she and Bill camped for many years at Hermit Island Campground in Phippsburg and made their home in Harpswell on Gunpoint over looking the ocean.
Tootie loved to travel, cross stitch and do crossword puzzles. Tootie and Bill loved to entertain family and friends at their home and loved to frequently gather at one another's home with a group of close friends affectionately called " The Gang".
She leaves three daughters; Kathie Magno and her husband Jimmy of Topsham, Susie Hunter of Oxford and Nancy Hunter of Oxford, A son William C. Hunter and his wife Katy of Auburn, a brother in law Calvin Hunter and his wife Judy of Auburn, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson Eric Albiston.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to the entire at Clover Manor, who cared for and loved Tootie dearly.

Hunter, Lois J. 1/16/2011- At her request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 30, at 9:45 AM service at Court St. Baptist Church, 129 Court St. Auburn, ME 04210, family and friends are welcome to attend Tootie's service.
