Jean Murphy Fournier, 73, died at home with her family by her side. She was born in Lewiston, the daughter of Edward and Cecile Murphy. She was a graduate of St Joseph’s Academy in South Berwick and received an Associate’s Degree from Mt. Ida College in Newton, Mass., and then received her Bachelor’s Degree from USM.
In 1968 Jean married her best friend and life partner, Marc Fournier. As the years passed, she gave birth to her first son, Matthew and then her second son, Traverse. Her skills were obvious; Jean was an incredible mom, a wonderful wife and she followed it up with becoming a warm and compassionate insurance agent. Her zest for life, love for her family and her career clearly defined who this wonderful lady was.
Jeannie was pre-deceased by her parents, Edward and Cecile Murphy, her three brothers, Edward Jr., Bernard and Thomas and her sister and close friend Madelene Hare.
Jeannie and Marc were married for more than 50 years spending their last few years enjoying the winter sun in The Villages, Florida with summers in Maine. Jeannie is survived by her husband, son Matthew and his wife Susan of Greene, her son Traverse and his wife Sharon of Yarmouth and her loving sister in-law, Sonia Tyler, and her husband Don of Harpswell. Grammy Jean was loved by her grandchildren Soleil, Quinn, Will, Kelly, Emily, John, Dale and Clayton. Jeannie also leaves her very close nieces Sue Ann Morgan and Elaine Hare of Florida. Her friendships were numerous which included family members, co-worker’s, and wonderful friends.
A a celebration of life for Jean will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, Maine 04210.
