Gerard was born on September 1, 1934, a son to Joseph and Yvette (Maltese) Deraps. He was raised in Little Canada, Lewiston. He met the love of his life Doris Dionne and the two were married in 1955. They built a beautiful family together which was easily one of Gerard's greatest accomplishments.He was a hard worker and spent his career in shoe shops, retiring at A.C Electric where he was a motor repair specialist.
In life, Gerard was an avid hockey fan. However, his favorite way to spend his free time was with his family. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
He is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Doris, his two beautiful daughters Jolline Soule and Elaine Deraps, as well as his brother Alphie Deraps and his sister Rita Lavoie.
He leaves behind his children Diane Gendron, Denise Morin and husband Paul, Ronald Deraps, Lisa Shorette, Marc Deraps and Peter Deraps and fiance Jennifer Lessard. He also leaves behind his sisters Theresa Lapoint, Constance Theriault and Joline Dery, as well as his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Androscoggin Hospice House for the wonderful care they gave to Gerard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27th from 4PM to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 28th at 11AM at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, followed by Committal Prayers in the large chapel at St. Peter's Cemetery.
