David was born on November 14, 1962 in Lewiston a son of the late John A. Gastonguay and Gisele (Verville) Gastonguay of Lewiston, ME. He grew up in Lewiston, attending local area schools including Lewiston High School.
David married his high school sweetheart Lisa in 1982 and had two children Gina and John. He spent his career working as a cable technician in the Rumford area until he was unable.
David enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, and was a talented self-taught carpenter who built and remodeled many homes. Two of his greatest projects were the family home he built on Worthley Pond and the camp on Bear Pond where he created a lifetime of memories for his family. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends, while eating good food, especially his mom’s famous party mix.
Besides his mother Gisele and his wife Lisa, he is survived by his two children Gina Rac and her husband John of Greene and John Gastonguay of Newport, ME. He also leaves his grandchildren Johnny, Ahlexis, Jaiden, Gavin, Jakxon as well as his three siblings Carol Robillard of South Paris, ME, Robert Gastonguay of Turner and James Gastonguay of Sabattus, ME, his brother in law Dick Morin and his wife Jan of Dover, NH, and his sister in law Diane Cooper and her husband Jeff of Auburn, ME, and many special nieces and nephews.
David was beloved by everyone who met him and will be sorely missed. Always close to his side was his special sister-in-law Diane that treated him as her own brother, his grandson Johnny who loved sharing pictures with him of sporting events and all the fish he caught for him, and his special dog Douglass.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10:30 – 11:30 am at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, ME.
A Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 am, with a special graveside service to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Lewiston, ME.
