Yvonne Marie David, loving mother, matriarch to her family, follower of Christ, sister, minister, entrepreneur, retired special education teacher and professor joined God suddenly the morning of Friday September 16th 2022 at the age of 66. Yvonne was born the daughter of John and Leona (Bailey) David, in Detroit, Michigan on December 6, 1955. She graduated from Birmingham Groves High School, class of 1973. Yvonne earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, master’s degree from Michigan State, and doctoral studies at the University of Michigan. Yvonne married Bruce Michael on June 10, 1978 at St. Mary’s Student Parish in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Yvonne was infinitely curious and a lifelong student, always interested in learning about new ideas and in everyone around her. Yvonne carried a huge helping of the Lord’s unconditional love that she gave to everyone in her life and those in her path. Yvonne was a fierce advocate for the people in her life. If anyone crossed her path who was in need, she was relentless in doing all that she could. She would drive for hours to help a person or do the research to find that help. She was an advocate for people struggling in addiction. Her ability to empathize and sympathize showed itself in her daily life when approaching strangers to genuinely ask about their day or to compliment what she appreciated about them. She made people feel recognized, heard and loved.
Yvonne loved the Lord and was a tireless minister for Him. A faithful and committed member of The River Church, she was actively involved in prayer and Sozo ministries. She also participated in other ministries outside of The River, including Healing Rooms and Elijah House, as well as giving to several mission programs. Her compassion and perseverance radically improved so many people’s lives.
Survived by her loving husband Bruce, two sons Daniel and Matthew, their wives Natasha and Eli, her granddaughter Margot, her sisters Susan, Debra, Michele, Pamela, her brother Jon, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Yvonne’s family welcomes all to a memorial gathering on Saturday September 24, 2022 from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. at the River Church, located at 255 South Squirrel Road in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
