Stan was born the son of Stanley and Leona (McCarren) Richards in Wyandotte, Michigan on February 3, 1949. He attended Roseville High School. Stan joined the Army and served in Korea during the Vietnam war. He married Karen Traub on March 15, 1975 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Detroit. Stan had a career first at Chrysler and then as a truck driver. Stan was a member of the Shriners and the Scottish Rite.
Stan loved his family. He liked coaching and refereeing soccer. Stan enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play club, high school and college soccer. He loved to collect and listen to music albums. He enjoyed traveling, his favorite destination was Alaska. Stan couldn’t drive by a garage sale without stopping. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, horse shoes and camping.
Stan is survived by his wife Karen Richards; children Tracy (David) Kriss, Sara Barr, Heather (Steve) Davis, and Scott (Sarah) Richards; grandchildren Brianna (Trevor) Callahan, Sarah (Cameron) Lester, Kennedy (Ryan) Mamo, Aiden Barr, Donovan Richards, Delaney Barr, Maria Richards, Savannah Richards, Charlie Davis, and Mason Davis; step-grandson Christian Handyside; great-grandchildren Autumn-Marie Mitchell and Crue Mamo; siblings David Richards, Edie Kalminski, Ruth Cappella, and Linda Van Brabant. Stan was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers Richard and Larry Richards.
Visitation will be held Friday November 1st, 2024 from 3-8pm and Saturday November 2nd from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 10am at Pixley Funeral Home – Auburn Hills, located at 3530 Auburn Road in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Interment will follow at Christian Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 521 East Hamlin Road in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
