Chuck was born the son of Robert Leo and Marie Margaret (Spielburg) Hastings in Detroit, Michigan on April 20, 1940. Robert graduated from St. Gregory Catholic High School in Detroit. He married Gloria Jean Williamson on July 31, 1965 in Detroit. Chuck had a career as a plumber for the Detroit School Board/State of Michigan. He was a member of Plumbers Local Union 98.
Chuck was an avid Michigan sportsman. He loved to hunt and fish in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, specifically in the Houghton/Hancock area. In his youth, Chuck enjoyed playing hockey and watching his favorite team, the Detroit Red Wings.
Chuck is survived by his children Martine (Richard) Kraft, Robert Charles Hastings, Jr. (Amy), and Marc (Michelle) Hastings; grandchildren Jade, Richard, Galina, Jacob, and Kyleigh; and sister-in-law Vicki Hastings. Chuck was predeceased by his wife, parents and brother Michael Lee Hastings.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
