Carolyn Blackstone Matson

Carolyn was born the daughter of George and Eunice (Millington) Blackstone in Chicago, Illinois on April 11th, 1932. She graduated from Lyon Township High School, class of 1950. Carolyn married Carl Matson Jr. on November 28th, 1953 in Western Springs, Illinois. Carolyn and Carl raised their family in Bloomfield Hills. Carolyn was a longtime volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac where she also served on the board. Carolyn also volunteered at Tucson Medical Center in Arizona, where she and Carl lived during retirement.

Carolyn loved her family and enjoyed travelling with them. She loved knitting, quilting and cross stitch and leaves many handcrafted items for her family to cherish.

Carolyn is survived by her children Patty (Richard) Vitasinski, Karin (Mark) Menghini, Michael (Monique) Matson, Jane (Gary) Lowell, and Todd Matson; grandchildren Rick (Manda) Vitasinski, Kate (Josh) Pettengill, Jessica Vitasinski, Kyle Gracey, Mark Menghini Jr, Michelle (Patrick) Redman, Matthew (Krista) Menghini, Michael (Leticia) Menghini, Michele Lowell, Matthew (Elizabeth) Lowell, Samantha Matson, Silas Matson, Margaret Matson, and Jack Matson. She was also GG to 11 great-grandchildren. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Carl Matson Jr; her parents; and her brother George Blackstone Jr.
