passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023 in Sacramento, CA. She was 84.
Yvonne was born and raised in Quincy, CA and always liked to say she was one of 57
students in the class of 1957. While growing up in Quincy she was active in 4-H and
achieved the rank of All-Star. She was also involved in music programs where she
played clarinet and piano. While in high school she was honored by the faculty in being
selected for Girls State. Following graduation from high school, Yvonne attended San
Jose State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education.
She married Ken Dietrich in 1959, became an elementary school teacher in 1961 and a
mother to Kimberly in 1963. Following the birth of her daughter, Yvonne stepped down
from being a full-time teacher and became a substitute teacher. She and Ken moved to
Auburn in 1969 and were active for many years in their church community and in the
Buttons & Bows square dance club. Yvonne spent many years working as a substitute
teacher before being recruited to work in the mortgage and loan industry. When her
office closed she finished out her career as an Instructional Aide at the Placer County
School for Adults. This was the job she said gave her the most satisfaction and
fulfillment in her career. She retired at age of 65 to begin a new chapter in her life.
Yvonne met and married her second husband Lee Deverman in 2004 and they were
married until his death in 2018. They both shared a love of travel and met on a trip with
Sports Leisure Vacations. During their 14 years of marriage they took many trips
together and some of Yvonne’s favorite trips were to Egypt, Ireland, Greece and Hawaii.
They also both enjoyed sailing on Princess Cruises.
In addition to travel, Yvonne was an avid scrapbooker and loved to document her
travels. She was a cat lover throughout her life and was looking forward to seeing all of
her many cats again in heaven. Yvonne was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church.
In Auburn, she attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she served as the piano
accompanist for the church choir. She later attended Bethlehem Lutheran church in
Auburn before moving to Sacramento where she attended St. John’s Lutheran Church
with her husband, Lee.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Kim Maness (Rick) of Lincoln, CA and her 1 grand
kitty, Jasmine. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Dawn
Restani (Jon) of Sacramento and Heidi Amundsen-Myers (Rich) of Lodi. Yvonne was
preceded in death by her husband Lee Deverman; parents Thomas and Alice Beale;
sisters Janet Beale and T.J. Amundsen; ex-husband Ken Dietrich.
Yvonne’s family would like to thank the staff at Mercy McMahon Terrace and Blossom
Ridge Hospice for their loving care for her over the past 7 years.
Yvonne will be interred at New Auburn Cemetery and arrangements are under the
direction of Chapel of the Hills. There will be a private service for family members only.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Placer County
SPCA, Sacramento County SPCA, or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Yvonne will be dearly missed by her loved ones and all those whose lives she touched.
May she rest in peace.
