Our mother’s long and fruitful life has ended. Witness and participant in a world that has seen huge changes, she was one of 6 daughters of a Swedish immigrant Sacramento Valley rancher and his American born Swedish wife. Trained as a Registered Nurse, mother married Lauren Bryan and moved to Auburn in 1940 where he became a partner in Lukens, Vettestad and Bryan Funeral Home, located in the Tuttle Mansion. Later, Mother and Dad owned and operated Bryan’s Auburn Florist for many years. Mother was energetic and creative, always involved in some kind of project, helping at the business and raising their three children. She loved gardening and hybridized Iris creating a grand display that many people enjoyed visiting. She took up golf at the age of 60 and played with skill and enthusiasm into her early 90’s, often scoring better than others much younger. Widowed, Mother is survived by 2 of her 3 children, Patricia George of Berkeley and Linda Sewell (Jon) of Lake Oswego, Oregon and her daughter-in-law, Jeannie Bryan. Her son, Jeff Bryan preceded her in death. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jana Solberg, Jeffrey Bryan, Lisa Candiloro, Scott Bryan, Jenny Strezo, Jon Sewell and Kirk Sewell as well as 10 great-granchildren. As per her request, no services are planned. Donations may be made in her honor to the Auburn Fire Department or charity of choice. Please sign the guestbook at www.chapelofthehills-auburn.com
