Douglas McCutchon Grant

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, Douglas McCutchon Grant was welcomed into the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ. Douglas was born on August 4, 1975, in New Orleans. When Douglas was in the fourth grade, his family moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and that was the beginning of adventures on the Gulf, fishing with his dad, skiing with his friends, and working on his stereo equipment when he couldn’t be on the water.

After attending Coast Episcopal School, Douglas joined the United States Air Force and soon welcomed his first child in 1996. While in the Air Force he was stationed in Northern California where he met his soulmate, Jennifer Lack. They were married on March 24, 2001, and together, with their children, they built a wonderful life on their beautiful acreage in Newcastle, California. In 2004, Douglas’ analytical genius and Jennifer’s business acumen combined to create the successful Hot Water Heater Company. With his genuine desire to help others and God-given talent and skills, Doug approached his clients as though they were his own family. He treated them fairly, he did what he said he was going to do, and he impacted their lives by always bringing a solution to fit their needs. Helping people in an impactful way was at the core of Douglas’ heart. This was evident in all the relationships and lives he touched from a young child through adulthood.

In recent years, their home was transformed to welcome friends and family for various celebrations. Coming from crawfish territory, Douglas was excited to locate a crawfish farm within driving distance, and his crawfish birthday party quickly became everyone’s favorite celebration. He was passionate about his "rock crawling" adventures across the boulders of the Rubicon and shared his breathtaking videos with great joy.

Douglas had a unique bond with his sponsor, Theodore, and nothing was more fun than fishing with his children at Theodore’s pond. At the end of the day, while relaxing on their deck, Douglas pondered life with his best friend Jennifer and discussed “everything under the sun”.

Douglas is survived by his wife Jennifer, children, Deaton, Ana, and Azby, mother Betsy, brother Chip (Nolan), sister Katie and aunt Mary (Don). He was a beloved uncle to twenty six nieces and nephews and was loved by the Lack family, including John (Anita), Eva, David (Kara), Michael (Stephanie), and Greg. Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Grant (Charisse).

When Jesus was asked about His greatest commandment he said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:38-39 Douglas’ earthly relationships throughout his life, exemplified these commandments, and his loved ones are comforted as he rests in the arms of Jesus.

A celebration of Douglas’s life will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 10:30am at Bayside Church - Granite Bay Campus, 8191 Sierra College Blvd., Roseville, Ca 95661.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to plant trees on the property in memory of Douglas.
