Luis Lugo Cintron, 92 of Attalla, passed away October 27, 2022. Memorial Service with Military Honors will be at 2p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1p.m. until 2p.m.
Luis was born January 7, 1930 in San German, Puerto Rico to Daniel Cintron Hernandez and Ramona Lugo Cancel. In 1948, at age 18, he won $300 from a Lucky Lottery ticket. He decided to go to America for a better life and work. Not knowing English, he taught himself by putting little labels on things and reading the comic pages of the newspaper. Just as he was getting somewhere, the long arm of the Army reached out in July 1951 and sent him to Korea. He was a vehicle driver and brought supplies to the front line.
After 18 months, he was shipped home and began his life. He married soon after getting home and became the proud father of Judy (Craig) Zaplatinsky, Luis (Pam) Cintron, Arlene (Angel) Lopez, Sonia Perez and Ramona (Gary) Lightsey; grandfather of 8, great grandfather of 13 and great great grandfather of 2 that are on the way. He also leaves behind his loving wife, Mitzi Diane Cintron. During Luis’s life he had many jobs. He was a Taxi Driver in Chicago, Supervisor of Toys of Plastic, a Poultry Farmer in Etowah County, MSE Machine Mold Maker, a mechanic and a Walmart employee. Luis loved life and enjoyed it. Many knew him and loved his smile and willingness to do anything. They called him “Mr. Louie.”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
