Ann was a beautiful lady, full of grace and class, known most for her love of others, spirit of giving, and of course for her style and variety of hats. Her holiday gatherings were a favorite occasion for all of her family and friends who traveled from far and away for a bite of her macaroni and cheese and a slice of her peppermint cake.
Her grandchildren knew her best for buttered biscuits, card games, and a snarky sense of humor, but her ministry and a great source of joy was decorating and teaching Sunday School to the children at her church. They each loved her dearly and many have kept up with her well into adulthood, expressing the impact she had on their lives.
She was a fierce source of strength for her family during times of struggle, developing skills that would allow her to provide for her daughter as a single mother in the 60s — no small feat. She worked as a hairstylist and as a manager at a department store, later lending those skills to helping others, be it simply to cheer their spirits with a “new do” or in gracefully giving of her skills and resources helping single mothers and others experiencing need in her community.
To know her was to know love and care, and her legacy lives on in all who knew her.
She is a survived by her daughter, Elaine Darbo (John); bonus son, Kenneth Lankford (Deb); bonus daughters, Helen Blackwell (Tony), and Deborah Summers (Randy); grandson, Jimmy Campbell (Vanessa); granddaughters, Stephanie, Heather, Heidi (Gregg), Karen (Kevin), Sherri, and April; great- grandson, Hank; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte; 10 nieces and nephews; 18 great nieces and nephews; 32 great-great-nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.
Pallbearers will be member of Ann's family.
In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations in memory of Luetrail Ann Bradley, to the Texas Girls’ Choir at www.texasgirlschoir.org. She loved and supported them for many years.
